In the Young Investigator Synergy Award call we received ten project applications. The projects were evaluated against the criteria of the Light and Materials Young Investigator Synergy Award call by an evaluation panel consisting of Adam Burke, Anne-Lise Viotti, Arkady Yartsev, Francesca Curbis and Per-Erik Bengtsson. After initial individual evaluation and a ranking meeting chaired by Tönu Pullerits, the evaluation panel recommended four projects for funding. Light and Materials management group* decided to follow the recommendation of the evaluation panel and fund four projects according to their requested budgets.
Young Investigator Synergy Award 2024:
- Thomas Kjellberg Jensen (Synchrotron Radiation Research) and Mariia Shcherbakova (Solid State Physics): Nanoscale Signal Shaper and Development of Novel Optoelectronic Instrumentation
- Oleksandr Marunchenko (Chemical Physics, Light) and Yong Li (Chemical Physics, Material): Searching for Pristine State of Perovskite Semiconductor
- Axl Eriksson (Chemical Physics, Light) and Lintang Hizbullah (Chemical Physics, Material): Light-induced oxaliplatin dissociation from silicon microwires for phototherapeutic cancer treatment
- Thomas Krinke (Solid State Physics) and Vassily Kornienko (Combustion Physics): Imaging of neutral gold atoms with TALIF for spark ablation
Light and Materials management wish to thank the members of the evaluation group for their engagement and valuable work, and to congratulate all awardees!
* For this decision the management group consisted of co-directors Christelle Prinz and Per Eng-Johnsson. Coordinator Tönu Pullerits declared conflict of interest and did not participate in the decision.
